Cat Power

Cat Power is really Chan Marshall, a troubled troubadour with one of the most cathartic voices ever to grace Indie Rock.
In Chan Marshall's youth, her father Charlie Marshall was a traveling church pianist in the South.
People say that kids should stay in school, but Chan Marshall dropped out of high school and made beautiful records.
Chan Marshall recorded her first three records with Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley and Tim Foljahn from Two Dollar Guitar.
Chan Marshall recorded Cat Power's 1995 album Dear Sir and the 1996 release Myra Lee on the same day.
