Dr. Isaiah Ross
Delta-born guitarist/harpist who made the exodus to Detroit, plying his rhythmic, grooving trade in juke joints in the city.
Ross originally recorded for Sun Records, but he eventually left and ended up recording for just about everybody.
The Flamin' Groovies covered Doc Ross' great "Boogie Disease" on "Teenage Head."
Ross was left-handed and played his guitar upside down, which contributed to his unique style and sound.
