Fahey's versatile sound draws on everything from Indian ragas and Native American melodies to folk and blues. On his first album Fahey used the pseudonym Blind Joe Death. John Fahey began putting out his steel-string finger picking records on his own Takoma label in the late '60s. John Fahey was a musical innovator in every sense of the word. He died on February 22nd, 2001. John Fahey was a strong, undiminished artistic force who combined noise with classical composition.
