The Gories helped to establish the Detroit-by-way-of-Memphis, blues-driven, primal, stomping Garage Rock sound. The Gories named themselves after a band who appeared in the '60s sitcom "Gidget." Leader Mick Collins has since gone on to play with other bands like the Screws and the Dirtbombs.
