With Dose One on the mic and Jel handling the beats, the duo Them first appeared on Anticon's Music For The Advancement Of Hip-Hop compilation. Like the entire Anticon camp, they are both worshipped and despised for their meandering, conceptual rhymes and unique track construction. Devout followers flood message boards singing their praises, while others are left scratching their heads in bewilderment. Dose's voice is extremely high-pitched, somewhere between B-Real, Paul Barman, and Quasimoto, while Jel's schizophrenic soundscapes rarely adhere to the boom-bap, head-nod formula. Them's self-titled album dropped in 2000, and they appeared on Anticon's The Giga Single in 2001.
