Violeta Parra
Violeta Parra is on of Chile's most respected singer/songwriters. Born to musical parents, Violeta was singing and playing the guitar by age nine, and was soon composing her own songs. She married in 1952, and began touring her country, taking in more and more inspiration from its natural charm. Moving to France two years later, Violetta started recording her poetic compositions. She returned to Chile six years later, extending her artistic skills to painting and sculpture. By 1961, she was back in Europe, touring again. Her albums included "Paroles & Musiques" and "Puras Cuecas".
