Turntablism
As slick studio productions gradually replaced the early sound of the cutting and scratching DJ in the '90s, a new generation of artists began approaching the turntable as an instrument in its own right. Turntablist groups often work as a band would; one person scratches out beats, another tackles the bass, and so on. The Invisibl Skratch Piklz are probably the best-known Turntablists, followed closely behind by groups such as the Beat Junkies, the X-ecutioners and the Scratch Perverts.
